Anchored in Style: The Cornerstone Boutique Brings Confidence to the Coast

Tucked in the heart of historic downtown Biloxi, The Cornerstone Boutique feels like a breath of fresh air. The space is bright, soothing, filled with timeless pieces, art, and personal touches that reflect the vision of its owner, Rachel. For her, fashion isn’t just about trends; it’s about helping women feel grounded, confident, and authentically themselves.

After more than a decade in the fashion industry, Rachel opened The Cornerstone Boutique just one year after having her second child. “I wanted it to be for women like me,” she said. “I didn’t want couture. I wanted comfort and elegance, something that felt true to where I am in life now.”

That authenticity became the heart of her business. Her number one specialty, the Body Shape Analysis, is what she calls her “baby.” Clients come in for a one-on-one appointment where their measurements are taken from head to toe, analyzed, and classified into one of five body types. From there, Rachel and her team build a complete styling experience: a personalized digital guidebook, curated outfit recommendations, and an in-store session to find pieces that flatter every curve and contour.

“It’s about understanding your shape, not your size,” she said. “Your body shape is based on your bone structure. It doesn’t change if you gain or lose 50 pounds. I’ve had women tell me they want to wait until they lose weight before booking, and I always tell them, ‘No girl, you need me now.’”

That philosophy, self-love before perfection, has resonated with women across the Coast. Rachel’s services now include add ons of a Face Shape Analysis and Seasonal Color Analysis that offer eyebrow, contouring, and hairstyle recommendations, all designed to help clients see beauty in their natural features.

Her inspiration for creativity started young. Rachel’s mother used to buy old prom and wedding dresses from thrift stores, tear them apart, and turn them into something new. “It was about construction, understanding how things are made,” she said. “Before Pinterest, my mom and granny were making fashion out of curtains.” Those early lessons in creativity and confidence led her here, to a 1920s building in the heart of Biloxi, where the cornerstone outside her front door inspired the name of her store.

“The cornerstone is what anchors the building,” she explained. “That’s what I want to be for women, an anchor in their personal style.”

Inside the shop, you’ll find Rachel’s own artwork displayed alongside her clothing collections, mostly solid, classic pieces that can be mixed and matched for everyday wear or vacation. “When I pick new pieces, I always think, ‘What would I pack on vacation?’ You should only need two pairs of shoes and a few pieces that go with everything.”

The boutique is also a true family affair. Her two children are often there greeting customers during school breaks, and on Saturdays, her “amazing helpers” Shawn and Diane, both in their seventies, bring extra warmth and personality to the shop floor.

Rachel’s connection to the community runs deep. Since opening during Cruisin’ the Coast, she’s built lasting relationships with visitors who return every year. “People come back and tell me they’ve watched us grow,” she said. “They feel invested in what we’re building.” She also collaborates regularly with other downtown boutique owners, and this spring she’s participating in a fashion show at Ground Zero to support Nativity School.

“All of us downtown really support one another,” she said. “We send customers to each other all the time. I think people notice that and they remember it.”

For Rachel, fashion is about more than clothes. It’s about confidence, connection, and community. “Your style is an authentic reflection of you,” she said. “You are your own canvas. My goal is to help women feel good in their own skin because that’s where true style begins.”
