We at The Observer are very excited to introduce y’all to the second location of The Blue Dog Bistro. Owners Josh and Amber Lord have experienced great success in their original location, in downtown Ocean Springs, and are recreating the same menu, cool aura, and consistently excellent food at their newest location in Gulfport. Located on Loraine-Cowan road, northwest of Gulfport Lake, the venue sits under moss covered oaks with a view of the lake, and is only a short walk from the boat landing. The white washed brick in this strip goes perfectly with the chic indoor décor. Sapphire suede seats set off the mirrored-octagonal shelving and colored geraniums that add to the paintings of their family.
We’re talking about the Blue Pit Bulls that they proudly call their kids. The east end of the building hosts a full barista bar with all kinds of specialty coffees, and a full wine, beer, and liquor bar. At the busy part of the day the seats are all full on a week day with a covered outdoor patio for overflow or for those who enjoy the sunshine. They also have an upstairs covered deck and dining room open for busy weekends and private parties. The view from this area is so astounding as to encourage those who really enjoy a long brunch. Blue Dog is open from 7a.m. to 3p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
Josh started his Good Dog – Bad Dog menu, (breakfast, lunch, or small plates), as an answer to having good food that’s good for you. Rather you suffer from Celiacs or Crohn’s, or, are just mindful of your diet, the Blue Dog has great options to meet your dietary needs. They have a great system in place to help you meet your needs, from Keto, Paleo, Vegan, Organic, and Gluten Free marking each menu item. We immensely enjoyed everything we sampled from each section!
With a tasty list of specialty coffees and cocktails to choose from, Cheli enjoyed an iced Macchiato while I sipped on a perfect Bloody Mary. IPA’s, champagne and wine, and a full bar featuring such delicacies as Hibiscus Mimosas and Amber-itas are offered. They also have bottomless Mimosas for $15, and that sounds like my kinda brunch y’all!
