One of the museum’s standout features is it’s “education collection”. The collection is not merely a display of ornate costumes and glittering accessories; it is a reflection of the evolution of this cherished celebration that museum goers can interact with for a hands on learning experience. While playing and trying things on, visiting families will quickly find themselves learning more and more.
“I love sharing the history of Carnival with visitors and locals.” Says Harris. “A lot of people even from here, coastal Mississippi, they enjoy Mardi Gras and the parades but they don’t know all of the rich history and tradition that goes along with it. So it’s really fun to be able to share that with people.”
