CB´s Jamaican Jerk BBQ

We are so excited to finally make it to CB’s Jamaican Jerk in downtown Biloxi!  Located on Lamuese St., across from the Half Shell in the historical old Biloxi Library, this fun little Jamaican style juke joint is smoking and cooking up some fabulous food.  With green interior walls and yellow and black accents, an indoor tiki bar and a little bandstand area, the décor of colorful wood carvings and the laid back vibe are totally irie mon while the food rivals any I had while in Jamaica.  I told CB the best thing I ever did for myself was signing-up for Caribbean studies, spending a month touring the country while earning college credit.  The beauty of the island with the sheer turquoise waters, the Blue Mountains, the cliffs, the caverns, the waterfalls and the ports and docks, brings so many opportunities to have a  well-rounded and wonderful experience.   With all this beauty in one country, they also have a unique take on local cuisine.

CB is very passionate about his cooking and has been awarded several accolades including 5 stars on Yelp, Best Jamaican Restaurant in the South, and ribs that are simply “hog heaven”!  I enjoyed re-telling my adventures while I sipped on a Red Stripe beer and he served us a sample of his homemade juice, lemonade made with brown cane sugar, yum.  One of my stories was of us touring the battle forts in Kingston and ending up at a bar ordering a Bud Light and quickly being reformed to a Red Stripe drinker for the rest of the trip!  While in Kingston we had a banquet that featured curried goat with rice and peas that was fantastic, being in the US he serves a mean chicken curry that was just as fantastic!

We traveled from Kingston through the Blue Mountains and Fern Gully to the north shore where we stayed in a beach side dormitory that was conveniently located across the street from the Jerk Centre.  We ate there probably 20 times enjoying a quarter of a jerked chicken with a festival roll and a red stripe for less than a dollar, back in the day, lol!  I have been in love with jerk ever since and CB does a fine job preparing it being from Negril then Kingston.  Cheli spent a summer in the Cayman Islands, she and I both consider ourselves the self- appointed expert judges on jerk, and we loved the moist and juicy chicken with the perfect seasoning which has a smidgeon of heat, and a smidgeon of sweet.  CB will do the Festival Rolls for you too, but, they aren’t on the menu, call a day in advance an he will special prepare them for you.  Such a nice and accommodating gentleman he is!
