Feeling Stronger Every Day: Walfredo Reyes Jr. And Life With Chicago

A Brief History Of Chicago

Chicago started in 1967 with original members Lamm, Loughnane, Pankow, Walt Parazaider, Seraphine, Terry Kath, and Peter Cetera.

In the band’s early days, the band was driven by the guitar expertise of Kath, who the band claims had a fan in Jimi Hendrix, its three-piece hornline, the songwriting of Lamm, and its powerful vocals by Kath, Lamm, and Cetera.

Chicago has sold more than 100,000,000 million records and has a catalog of hits that includes “Just You and Me,” “Saturday in The Park,” and the Lamm-penned “Beginnings.” In the early to mid-1980s, the band, which include Bill Champlain on vocals and keyboards, dominated the charts and pop radio with hits such as “Hard To Say I’m Sorry” and “You’re the Inspiration.” The current lineup of the band continues to record new music. Chicago is one of the best-selling and most beloved groups in American music, playing hundreds of shows annually. In fact, the band never took a year off from touring until they were forced off the road during the pandemic of 2020.

Chicago has been the subject of many documentaries including the Peter Pardini-directed “Now More Than Ever: The History of Chicago.”Pardini also directed “The Last Band On Stage,” which documents Chicago’s time off the road during the COVID-19 pandemic
