Summer Fun Perfection at Agua

Summer is here, and that means one thing- it’s time to cool down at one of the best poolside bars on the Gulf Coast! That’s right, Agua at Treasure Bay Casino and Hotel is open again for all your fun in the sun summer needs. This cozy little spot sits next to Treasure Bay’s beautiful, crystal clear pool and offers fun bites, cold drinks, and a personality all its own. I had the pleasure of visiting Agua and sat down with Beverage Manager Libby King to talk about all of the delicious items on offer.

“We have a two deck pool, and a pool bar with amazing food and specialty drinks.” Says King. “We do live music throughout the summer. The schedule is available on our website and advertised throughout the property.”

For ten dollars on weekdays, twenty on weekends, guests 21 and over can get a Day Pass and enjoy the two deck pool for a full day at their leisure between adventures in gambling and specialty drinks at the bar. Speaking of the drinks on offer, the selection is incredible and offers a taste experience unique to Agua. I had the pleasure of sampling one or two (or three) drinks. The Vegas Bomb was an excellent start to my afternoon, a mix of Red Bull, Crown Royal, and Malibu Rum. This, paired with their delicious boudin egg rolls, was the perfect start to my Agua experience. I slipped away while watching local musician Mike Halat set up on the top deck for the day’s entertainment to come.

For my lunch I chose one of their signature burgers, which is flame-broiled and smoky, served fully loaded with fresh toppings. As I enjoyed this burger, which could easily contend with some of the coast’s best restaurants, I ordered a second drink- a tequila sunrise. It was delicious and refreshing, and carried me pleasantly through my burger and fries. As I sat back and took in the atmosphere I couldn’t help but admire the lovely setting.

My third drink came, the Hennessey Playmaker, and it was my favorite of the day. Hennessey VS Cognac, mixed with Sprite and cranberry juice, and served with a lemon wedge this boozy concoction is certain to please anyone whose lips grace it. I then realized I had to order another can’t-miss item and went for one of their fresh, made in house pizzas. Cooked right in front of you in their slick, modern brick oven. I chose a classic pepperoni and cheese, but for the more adventurous they feature a variety of toppings. My pizza was simplicity perfected, not a flavor out of place or underplayed. If you haven’t yet experienced all that Agua has to offer, I suggest coming out to their July 4th special event.

“Independence Day Weekend will feature live music and two great specials.” Says King, referring to the event. “We’ll have three Holiday Cocktails – one red, one white, and one blue, plus twenty percent off of baskets and burgers. What better way is there to spend a holiday weekend?”

Whether you’re looking for a beer bucket by the pool or a burger that’ll leave your taste buds singing, you can’t go wrong at Agua. The food is fresh, the drinks are cold, and the pool is a perfect break from the summer heat. What more could you ask for?

Agua Pool Bar & Grill is open daily 10am to 8pm throughout the summer for guests 21 and over. For the complete menu and entertainment schedule visit treasurebay.com.
