GreenHouse Biloxi:  a cozy cafe nestled in the heart of downtown Biloxi

The Greenhouse Biloxi is a quaint little bohemian style coffee and biscuit shop located right in the center of Vieux Marche.  On the side of a building, next door to Marley’s Records, at 152 G E Ohr St., there is ample parking.  Old downtown Biloxi has so many businesses including the hospital, main bank branches, law offices, engineering firms, restaurants and bars, all with employees who can use a little nosh and giddy-up before or during their busy day.  Operating hours are from 7am to 2pm serving breakfast and lunch and some super coffees, espresso, teas, brunch cocktails and other drinks.

Our new sweet friend Kait Sukiennik had started making seasonal jams in her home town near Birmingham, AL.  A dear southern grandmother figure told her if she was going to sell jam, she might aught to learn how to make some homemade biscuits.  After a couple of weeks of tutelage, she perfected it, tweaked it, and now she sells her brand – Greenhouse Biscuit Mix, not only at her shop, but, also at other novelty shops and online at biscuitsprings.com.  I haven’t made mine yet, but, let me tell you that those biscuits she serves are light and flaky, moist, and compliment so many toppings.  She and her family moved to Ocean Springs and opened the original Greenhouse that was literally at a greenhouse on Porter Ave.  The owners sold the property and she moved to downtown Biloxi and has great success all along the way.  With great visions and concepts, I expect to hear even more great things happening for this young entrepreneur!

To begin with Cheli had an ice latte with caramel and extra cows’ milk.  She offers several house made syrups with tempting flavors such as orange, mocha, vanilla, caramel, lavender, peanut butter & honey and brown sugar & honey.  Specialty drinks such as an Orange Creamsicle Latte made with espresso, orange, vanilla and milk, or an Aquarius Latte – espresso, peanut butter, honey and milk.  The list of specialty teas hot or cold, or specialty as in a Matcha Latte with milk or a Golden Milk with turmeric tonic tea, local honey and milk, as well as many more options.  Chel’s specialty coffee was delicious, but having had a half pot of coffee already, I opted for a brunch cocktail, I know, I know, I know, but somebody’s got to do it!  I really enjoyed my Bloody Mary – Cathead vodka, house made spicy “mater” juice, dragged through the garden, with pickled okra, three types of olives, and a whole stalk of celery, yum!
