The Shed: Award Winning Barbecue

Here in South Mississippi, when the Summer sun sets it’s rays harshly upon us, we stand out in defiance of such heat and by a flaming hot grill do make delights to set the senses ablaze and we call it barbecue. There’s a simple name we associate with good barbecue here on the Gulf Coast, and that name is The Shed.

For over two decades The Shed has fed our heads with bread set aside a breadth of barbecued delights, from brisket that melts in the mouth to ribs sauced up like you wouldn’t believe all served up with sides like fried pickles, potato salad, coleslaw and more. There’s a little something for everyone at The Shed, but this year Memphis was the customer that ate the plate as The Shed went on to win its third first place prize at the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.


“We’ve been doing Memphis in May for 17 years, and this is the 3rd time that we’ve won the championship trophy.” Says Brad Orrison, co-founder of The Shed, proudly.“There’s only 4 other teams that have won it three or more times in 47 years. We’ve had the same menu for 24 years, we haven’t changed it. We do the same thing every day and everybody knows what to expect when you get there.
