Toto, Journey Launch 2024 tour in Biloxi on Friday

Steve Lukather is one of the more prolific musicians in rock and roll. A founding member of Toto, Lukather has played on more than 1,500 recordings for artists as diverse as Larry Carlton, Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, The Imperials, Chicago, Jackson Browne and Alice Cooper, and he almost went out out on the road as a touring member of Steely Dan in the lates 1970s.

He’s also an accomplished songwriter, with co-writing credits on numerous songs for artists such as The Tubes (“She’s A Beauty”), George Benson (“Turn Your Love Around”) and KISS (“A World Without Heroes”). And, if that’s not enough, he’s a published author, accomplished solo artist and he’s spent the last 12 years touring and recording with Ringo Starr when he’s not working with Toto.Lukather released his latest solo album “Bridges” in 2023.

Lukather and Toto (vocalist Joseph Williams, bassist John Pierce, percussionist and horn player Warren Ham, keyboardist Steve Maggiora,keyboardist Greg Phillinganes and drummer Shannon Forrest) will be at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday, Feb. 9, with Journey on the Freedom: 2024 Tour. “This is the first show we are playing with Journey in 2024,” Lukather said. “We are kicking off the tour in Biloxi. This is a new configuration of the Toto boys. Greg Phillinganes came back and Shannon Forest is back – it sounds even more ‘Toto-sounding’ than ever.”

Lukather’s career path, like many, started when he was a young man who saw a certain Brit-rock band make its American television debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”
