Burn N Redd: A live duo with a big voice and a hard rock edge

They hit the scene steadily after that, performing full length shows themselves, joining multi-band bills, and popping in at special events. The two play their parts live, supported by backing tracks for the drums and bass, and they command the stage with some dynamic energy and real rock and roll showmanship. Being a duo allows them to scale their show easily and sometimes perform for events that might not be able to accommodate a full band but still want to turn up to eleven. Big stage or small, Burn N Redd brings it. Their repertoire of over a hundred cover songs is steadily growing, and each one is molded just a bit into the band’s own hard rock style by the heavy guitar sound and robust vocals.

“We just usually just pick our favorite ones and build a set out of those,” Burn said of the band’s song selections, which can include Ozzy Osbourne to Katy Perry and all kinds of in between. “We have added several songs every week. That’s kind of one my favorite things to do now as a guitar player, is to go in there and sit down and pull up tabs and learn a new song. I’m constantly learning new material.” That material includes a healthy dose of Breaking Benjamin favorites from the duo’s tribute days, some Marilyn Manson who Burn also draws from for The Spooky Kids tribute, classics like Heart and Pat Benatar, and a handful of non-rock selections to keep things interesting.

With the band in full swing and both members being creatives themselves, they felt the call to bring more of their own music into the mix with their cover selections. The first batch of Burn N Redd originals has been cooking for a few months, some of which have made their way into the live show. One such song, “People Pleaser,” came about when Redd added some inspired personal lyrics to some music Burn had been working on. They played the song live for the first time on the 4th of July, and are currently working up ideas for a future release.

Burn N Redd have tossed around the idea of expanding from a duo to a full band, but only if and when it seems right. Both members credit their current successes to the simple fact that they get along and enjoy what they are doing, and they don’t plan to turn down any time soon.

“That’s what makes a band work, when you have chemistry with someone,” Burn said. “We bring the energy of a full band even as a duo. We’re dedicated to our show, our choreography, putting on a performance… Thanks for all the support.”
