Multi-platinum singer and songwriter Elle King is on the road this year and will be bringing the show to Biloxi along with the freshly dropped single “Baby Daddy’s Weekend.”
The “Ex’s and Oh’s” singer has smashed records and amassed nearly two billion streams with her music, such as her hit “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” with Miranda Lambert off her album Come Get Your Wife, a song which marks the first woman-woman collaboration to top the Billboard Country Airplay chart since Reba McEntire and Linda Davis’ “Does He Love You” over thirty years ago. Also holding the title of the first female artist in history to land singles on four different radio formats including pop, alternative and country airplay, King has enjoyed a cross-genre appeal that has landed her major festival appearances, touring and headlining dates across the US and internationally, including shows in Belfast, Glasgow and London recently.
“If it feels authentic, then I do it,” King said in our remote interview. “Fans like music that makes them feel something, no matter what the genre. I started writing music on my banjo, and I grew up in Ohio, so the influences of country music were all around me. But I loved pop music too. So if it’s authentic, the fans will connect with it.”
King explained that her show tends to change depending on the night and the crowd’s vibe, and she particularly enjoys getting to try out new material or tweak existing music a bit for a live audience. A fun, well placed cover tune here and there can shake things up as well. Even longtime fans will likely hear something new in the show, especially with the new single. Of course, all the big hits will be be there as well.
