“Each dress takes about one to two hours to make. I’ve done about 78 for this year.” Says Roberts. “I’m excited to see how happy everyone is when they finally get their dress and they get to participate. It’s a lot of fun.”
“I love the glitz, the glam, I love the fact that it’s a bigger crew. I love the fact that we have these huge floats like New Orleans.” Says Salacia member Dana Hardy. “It’s all gonna be worth it whenever I find somebody out in the crowd that seems like they’re really pumped to get a decorated bikini top and I can be like ‘woo! Here’s your top!’”

Beyond the glitz and glamour, the Krewe of Salacia holds a special place in the hearts of the community. The enthusiasm and adoration they receive from the community underscore the positive impact they have made, making them a beloved fixture in the local Mardi Gras tradition.
“I’m so excited, I love Mardi Gras and everything about it.” Says Non Riding Member Keri Manley. “This is my third year with Salacia and I love it. It’s a great group of women who love each other and support each other. It’s a true sisterhood.”
“We’re just like a family.” Says Sonja Gillis, marcher. “I love that.”
As the Krewe of Salacia prepares to roll through the streets of Biloxi on Saturday Night, March 1, 2025 during the Neptune Night Parade, marchers at the front will be illuminating their way with lighted jelly fish on poles and angel wings, anticipation builds for a spectacle that combines tradition, pomp, and a powerful display of female creativity.
