Much of Sweetie’s sound carries warm tones and chill vibes, delivering a pretty classic-sounding and enjoyable alt rock style with dual vocals and dashes of variety from other genres. The band’s melodic sensibility shows through in the way they rework their cover songs and is one that came organically to the members, rather than being a sound that they specifically sought from the beginning. It’s a style that just feels right for them them and has shaped the band’s direction moving forward. “I don’t think it started out on purpose but it’s very purposeful now,” Simon continued about their sound on the upcoming originals.
“You can expect a Sweetie EP dropping probably within the next six months.”

Sweetie have also gained a reputation for being equally entertaining in their off-stage videos. Their show promos are often lighthearted and bizarre skits or pop culture references, such as the band mates screaming at each other about show bookings as Palmer bleeds out in the back seat of a car like a scene from Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, or Lee being shocked to find out that the band had replaced him with his own clone while watching an episode of the Red Radio Show.
According to Palmer, it’s just a part of the band’s love for what they do together. “I think the biggest takeaway from Sweetie, what we always want people to understand at shows is that we really are best friends,” she said. “The opportunity to do marketing in a way that we get to have fun with each other and come up with ideas on the spot… it came natural. We look forward to making them… It’s only going to get more crazy from here.”
Sweetie has a new video dropping soon ahead of their larger original release, and is booked across the South Mississippi area throughout October. Show dates include coast venues such as Glory Bound and Lucy’s, as well as special appearances at a Pink Heart Funds event in Long Beach and in Hattiesburg for Pine Belt Pride.
