Following up from 2023’s studio album “Screamin’ at the Sky,” Black Stone Cherry are back with new music for Spring 2025 in the form of a special Record Store Day album. The album, very artistically named “This is Black Stone Cherry’s RSD Album. The Band Really Likes it,” offers up a unique variety for listeners’ ears.

“We put together a collection of live tracks, unreleased stuff and features that had never been on physical copy before. Some stuff completely unreleased,” said frontman Chris Robertson. The previously-released single and The Cult cover “American Horse” opens the record and features guests John Cooper of Skillet and Ayron Jones. “Have You Ever Been Lonely” is a fine new entry to the band’s catalog… a melodic mid-tempo jam with a fiery guitar solo. Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm appear on the record, as do five live BSC hits recorded at Hellfest, Skydeck and more. At the time of this writing, a couple of the album’s rocked-up cover tunes have started to gain serious streaming traction and look to become standout selections: “What’s Love Got to Do With It” (Tina Turner) and “Give Me One Reason” (Tracy Chapman). It’s a great listen throughout, and features the band having a bit of fun and paying their respects back to the music scene. Even the album’s simplistic art style and title are a nod to the classic vinyl era, especially inspired by a Howlin Wolf record.
