You’ll often find Eash set up with a microphone and keyboard, playing and singing live along with some tracked and sampled accompaniment, delivering his renditions of decades of hit songs from multiple genres. At times you’ll find him as part of a duo with a musical partner such as guitarist Ken Leonard or bassist John Tush. He prides himself on his ability to voice a range of iconic artists from Johnny Cash to Lionel Richie to Barry White. As someone who has worked with and worked as an Elvis impersonator, you can bet on hearing a bit of The King thrown in the mix as well. Of course, he makes a point to add in music from newer artists such as Post Malone and Teddy Swims to his already massive catalog, always aiming to keep things fresh.
“If there’s something compelling out there that I think people will enjoy… there’s so much new music out there.”
Even if you aren’t at the venue it’s easy to catch a bit of Eugene Eash live, as he often streams his performances to social media in a high quality, multi-camera setup that lets his followers get in on the action from wherever they are.
The new year brings new opportunities with it, and for Eash, that means completing a project that’s been a missing piece of all of this: an original full length album.
Eash dropped a single back in 2009, which was part of a three track release. The single, entitled “Felt” was joined by the additional song “Lonely Heart” and the alternate version “Felt (DJ Anthony Foster Dub)”. The single takes a bit of a pop/R&B vibe with the clean singing and beat, tops it with a memorable chorus hook, and injects some rock edge to the mix when the high gain guitar kicks in. The release was Eash’s first official venture as an original recording artist and the product of his collaboration with Ken Leonard. The two had then planned to return to the studio soon and begin production on an album, but a variety of factors, family priorities and other musical endeavors saw the project left behind over time, until now.
Eash and Leonard reconnected in late 2023, and when the idea of making music together again was presented, it didn’t take long for them to jump back in. By January of 2024, they had rekindled the album project after more than a decade and began putting brand new material together.
